I could feel my heart thumping in my chest as his words bounced off the walls and then back to me. I don't know why I was waiting for something to happen, and I couldn't help but stare at the screen, frozen. I heard a voice yelling in the background and I noticed my father stood up straighter.

"That's your mother. I called her after they ambushed me. I should go." I began to panic at this. It was the first time I heard his voice in a long time. "I love you."

"Don't go yet..." I whispered as he left the room. "Please don't leave me." I knew he couldn't hear me but I wish he did. The screen buffered until it just went blank. I stared at it for what felt like forever with a numb feeling eating my heart out. I slowly reached behind me for the picture frame with the three of us. I stared at it again. My arms were hauled across both their shoulders and we had paint all over. My set of front teeth we beginning to regrow and my lips held a deep blue hue I surmised was probably from blueberry lollipops. A cheery smile etched our faces and our eyes kinked with a happiness I'd never witness in the present. A strange bitterness afloat inside me and I was angered by the fact that they took my memory. I smashed the frame to the ground and listened for the glass breaking. I dropped to my knees, feeling the tiny shards making its way into my skin

"I hate my freaking life!" I screamed. "I-I...why couldn't Jason kill me!" I cried. "I can't take it anymore! I want it to end!"

"Um, hello. I'm not really sure on the detail and how it all happened but," I looked up to the screen with my obscured eyes barely making out her features. My lips broke apart in shock as I stared at the youthful version of my mother. "I can tell you now since everything went exactly how it's supposed to. Sage...is not going to die. I only told you that so you'd come here when you found out about me. There was a vision I kept having in my sleep and each time you died in it. I knew they'd come for you because they wanted to smoke me out and because you had the mark. A rouge I hire will lead Sage onto the road where you will hit him. I knew you would be in Vermont and I knew you'd end up staying with Sage. I knew they'd come for you there since Jason made it his mission to spread the word about you being Sage's mate. Only if he knew what his actions would cause. I decided that I would take your place. If you died, all of us go down. But if they kill me, they'll think Tylon is unguarded. It'll give you more time and hopefully trap them for a while. I hope you understand it's for the best, I mean, it's better me than you, right?" she chuckled, but it doesn't lessen the mood with the tears rolling down her cheeks. "I really wish you got the chance to know me, but it's better I sacrifice my happiness for yours. I love you, Hanna, with every, inch of my heart."

I then remembered the last time I saw her she said she would be in Liam's study, discussing a few things. I ran down stairs and then the hall as if my life depended on it. I saw a few people outside the door as I neared it. Sage was the first to see me and he took me in his arms, and for a millisecond I was okay.

"Where the hell were you! I've been calling and texting but you didn't answer!"
