"Sage! It's you!"

"Yeah. It took forever to get away from them too when they have the pups on their side!"

"Well, you better get those legs going cause they're right on our heels!" I laughed. I stuck my tongue out at them as I saw them closing in on us. I then heard a chorus of noise as Sage shoved away the chair and water dispenser as we charged through the back door. In his haste to the kitchen, he slipped in the water and we both went tumbling down to the floor. We were caught in a tangly mess when Liam and his friend ran in from the kitchen.

"What in the world..."

"Umm..." I laughed, looking to Sage. The back of his head was wet along with some part of his clothes from the ongoing water flow. As my butt began to soak, I could feel the droplet of water dripping from my hair down my back. Sage stood up and pulled me with him as we faced them.

"Sage," Liam started. "These are my friends I was telling you about. They're gonna help us figure out what the writings on her back mean. They specialize in decryption, combat and importantly, world bridges. They will train you- all of us for when we cross over to Tylon. I'll just tell you now that it's not going to be easy, so prepare yourselves for hell."

"Many of you are aware of the upcoming battle over your Luna and I'm sure you all think you have what it takes to defend her and this pack. Well, you don't," he said smugly. "Compared to them, you are all amateurs, weak, pathetic, feeble-minded, disposable,"

"To think you can only insult a person with so many words..." Ethan whispered to me.

"Stop talking," I hushed him. "or you'll get us both in trouble."

What goes around, comes around.

"And as for you Miss Luna," he turned to me. "I think everything applies to you the most. You're the weakest here, yet, all our fates lie in your hands. You have no fighting experience, you're as fragile as a menagerie, you're too soft- a dependent even, and you're an easy target. But," he shrugged. "I have faith in you Hero. I thought the same thing about your mother but look how strong she was. You might actually surprise me." he said, walking away. I felt a hand intertwining with mine and gave it a firm squeezed. I looked to my side to see Stella smiling sadly at me. I wasn't gonna lie and say I wasn't hurt, but I was angry if anything. I'm with Ethan on this one when he said he didn't feel motivated. It was degrading how he was exposing our problems in public even though people already knew. But it stings a lot more to hear them out loud when everyone usually pretends it's not there. Especially if it's true. Liam already told me Troy bends for no one, and he has a heart of a black hole. I won't be surprised if he kicks puppies in the rain for a living. His face already was fixed in a permanent scowl that dared you to keep walking if you see him on the streets. I could just image all the ruthless act he's committed without remorse. He seemed like a sinner; but is it really sinning if he was protecting the innocent? A justified sin maybe?

I remember he said something about training my mother. How old is this guy then? If he knew her when she was younger then he must be from Tylon too. And if Liam knows them, does that mean he's from there?

"For the next month, you all will partake in the most brutal and rewarding training course that ever existed. If you want to beat these guys, you have to know how to read their motions. To beat Raiders you have to fight like one. Remember they are all ex-hunters, so catching their prey is second nature. The first lesson of the day will be endurance. If you ever get singled out from the pack and you've got thirty hunters on your tail, you'd run, right? But what if you get tired? There's a reason hunters are spread about in high numbers. One slip up earns you a silver arrow in your skull. And if you thought bullets were bad, these puppies bloom open in your brain as soon as it lands and it grows through the skin until your head looks like wolf-porcupine. They aim to kill and they never miss a target. If they do, it always will be a trap. So if you wanna survive, I recommend you all do as I say. I've set up a three-day trail in the woods, you're all expected to reach back here in two. But to make it fair for hers truly over there," he pointed at me. "you all complete this in human form. There will be no transforming unless I say so. I understand you people are most vulnerable as humans, so if anything, you might have a chance of making it back alive."
