So Troy planned this!

It made sense once you think about it. He sent us in here defenseless, without food or supplies, and he wanted to see if we could get what we needed. So in an unfortunate way, my ignorance actually helped us.

I pushed off from the tree and went to join Conner and Vin. I felt like everyone was just staring at me as I walked over and I knew what they were thinking, their faces said it all. It didn't help my confidence at all that they all think I'm a failure. Luna or not, it's what they see they'll believe in, and if I keep landing on my face at everything, how will they trust me?

I wish I could just get better...

"What's with the frown?" Vin rolled his eyes. "Don't tell me you actually care what they think? If you keep relying on their acceptance then you'll never be what you want to be, and that is a fact."

"How'd you know I was holding the bow wrong?"

"Cause I was watching you. And it wasn't the bow you held wrong, it was the arrow."

"And you didn't even do anything! I was freaking out here!"

"I thought you had it all under control. You are the Luna."

I groaned. "That word is getting on my nerves. I don't even know what I'm doing. Why can't they just pick someone else?"

"Wow, you give up easily. With that attitude, we might as well consider ourselves dead already."

"Vin!" Conner hissed.

Come one! Come all! Who's next in line to decide what happen to Hanna now! She will not fight back! I repeat, you do not need her consent!

What else could happen to me that will make this even worse than it is? I'm not even past the first day yet and I feel like giving up. I wonder how Sage is doing? He's probably having an easier time at this than me. I wish there was some way I could just talk to him. I can see why Troy separated us in the first place but if he was here, I'd feel a bit more encouraged.

I pushed off from the balls of my feet and sprinted to catch up with the others. As soon as I made it to the top, my legs gave out.

"Man, I'm so outta shape." I panted. They were still ahead of me but not by a lot. I couldn't see Jacob anymore and I doubt he even knows I'm lagging behind- none of them do! If I end up getting lost, they won't be able to find me. I guess this could be a good thing if they're people coming after me, but if they find me, no one would know.

"And It'll be like Jason again..."

That thought alone was enough to keep me going. The last time I was alone, my life almost ended, and that time they could sniff me out. But this time the stakes are high, the threat is more vicious, mature, bestial. If they could kill my parents so easily and without a trace, they could take us down whenever they wanted. My mother said they'll think Tylon is unguarded now that she's dead, and it should buy us some time. But I don't even want to think about what'll happen when they find out it's me they want, especially since I'm defenseless right now.
