I looked into the full length mirror again, my honey coloured irises reflecting my outfit. I was wearing a black pants suit on a white shirt with three buttons left unchecked.
I was struck in a limbo if to pack my hair in a ponytail or simply let it fall, the way they are. Today was my first day at work and I really need to make a good impression. If not for anyone but for my Father.
The gentle knock on my door tousled my thoughts.
"Come in." I said without a glance but once the door clicked open, the scent that came in thereof forced a smile on my lips.
"Hi." I said softly as Jerry took a few steps in. Wearing a sweet smile and dressed handsomely in a tucked in white shirt on a pair of black trousers. The Alpha's son was also a teacher in Greenville High.
"Good morning." He solemnly greeted. "What are you doing?" He asked with slight chuckle minting with his words.
"Oh--uhm, I'm thinking ponytail or perhaps I should just leave it like this." I stuttered as my hands packed my long hair upwards. He walked towards me, gently pulling my hands off my hair with his warm touch.
"Your hair looks just perfect." He ascertained with his accustomed sweet smile.
"You're nervous." He added as our eyes bonded. I swallowed my saliva, mesmerized by his neatly styled hair. I knew I shouldn't be lusting after him when I have a Rogue mate out in the woods. But Jerry is a kind soul, an handsome one at that.
"No I'm not." I lied. Trying to remain calm as possible. This wasn't my first time teaching students but Jeremy was the cause. Standing above me, with only few inches gaping us.
"I can hear your heart beating fast." He stated.
"That's because you're suffocating me with your eyes." I reiterated. He chuckled whilst took few steps backwards.
"I need to leave now, I can't be late for my first day."
"That's why I'm here. We should go together." He offered as he slipped out his car keys. Dangling it mid air. I hesitated for few seconds before nodding in agreement finally.
I briskly scooped my small black hand bag off the bed before leaving with him.
"I'm sure the students will love you." Jerry sounded as we toured the hallway leading to the stairs. But before I could respond, Imogen's room door opened. Her countenance morphed into evident rage intertwined with disdain when our gazes met. She hissed before storming back into her room. Slamming her door so hard that it almost startled me.
My lips parted for words to roll out but then Beta Chris barged into the living room.
"Alpha Jason! Alpha Jason!" His voice echoed throughout the building. Enough to grab everyone's attention. Jerry and I glanced at each other briefly before scurrying down the stairs to meet him.
"What's the problem? Chris." Alpha Jason's thick voice chorused from the stairs.
The Beta's face expressed horror and mild fear as he approached his Alpha. My curiosity picked on an higher note and I knew whatever he was going to say, won't be something pleasant.
"Kevin has started a Pack of Rogues!" He announced. "And the worse part is, he's planning to wage war on our Pack."
My eyes widened as I gasped. I pinched myself to ascertain I wasn't dreaming. Indeed I wasn't! Greenville was going to be under attack. At the same time, Aubrey leaped for excitement within me. I couldn't phantom why she was excited about a Pack being attacked by Rogues.
I studied Alpha Jason carefully, his face bloomed with horror as he joined us. His lips were slightly parted and I could hear his heartbeat heighten.
Why would a powerful man like him possibly be scared of a mere Rogue?
