CLAIRE
Here I was, seated by my desk. Under the dim lights, in my room. Staring at my laptop which displayed a blank page. I don't even know why I was here when I was supposed to be celebrating with the others outside. Rather than brood in my bedroom.
Realization soon struck me that I was worried. Worried about my probability mate. A Rogue.
With all certainty, I knew I wasn't going to like him but Aubrey longed for him. Disturbing me with her sad emotions. In life, everything happens for a reason. But this time, I couldn't help but question the moon goddess. Why would she bestow this kind of fate?
I'm the Lycan's daughter, from a respectable family yet mated to a Rogue. A stain to my family's prestige. I wondered how my Father was going to react upon this news. I feared what would happen to me if we met. That perhaps due to the mate bond, I might grow those sparky feelings for him. One I dread to nurture.
Aubrey's persistent excitement jolted me back to reality. Those feelings again. The sparks, the excitement, they were flooding all over but this time stronger. As if Aubrey had sensed my mate and indeed she was correct.
I frowned while my heart raced like sport cars. My mate was close by for sure. But he wouldn't dare to step into Greenville, will he?
I reviewed my dress. A white V-Neck long sleeves top complemented with a pair of fitted blue jean. I unpacked my messy bun letting my hair fall down my shoulders. And then I lazily slipped on my white sneaker before striding towards the door.
I scurried down the stairs in the fastest pace my legs could give. And soon I was outside, blessed with the moon rays and starry night except Aubrey didn't give me the time to enjoy it. I continued to walk in the direction my instincts directed me to whilst my body quivered.
I was going to meet my probability mate with several burning questions in my head. Those thoughts tousled immediately I arrived the Pack Grounds. The loud cheers that I had once heard were now replaced with eery silence. Each member I glimpsed at, had their widened eyes fixated to the stage. As if they saw a ghost.
My anxieties peaked on an higher note as the force of attraction grew stronger.
But because he was a broken man, filled with darkness.
"You bastard! I'll kill you!" Jerry swore as he trotted towards the stage where my mate had collapsed. I just froze, still engulfed in shock as Beta Conrad held Jerry back. And a man I knew not standing by my mate's side.
"By Pack Law, Kevin Manchester is now the new Alpha of Greenville Pack!"
Beta Conrad declared and the rest of the scenery just seemed to fade. Like a statue, I watched as more drama unfolded with only one statement in my head.
Kevin Manchester, A Rogue, was my certified mate.
