I turned to Axil, "So what did you and your pack live in?"

"We lived in huts. We'd gather sticks and tree branches then piece them together to create a home for ourselves. Some of us, like my family chose to live in caves to make ourselves comfier."

"What was in the middle of your pack territory?"

"The pack house, of course."

I turned to Liza, "what is in the middle of Sylia right now?"

Liza thought about it for a second before her eyes lit up in recognition, "the museum is smacked right in the middle of this village. I remembered because I took the kids to a fieldtrip there once," her eyes widened in shock.

"What is it?" I asked.

Liza's eyes brightened as she rushed towards me and gripped my hand, bouncing on the balls of her feet, "Oh my god Ezzy! I think I got something! or someone or whatever but holy shit! I think I found another clue!" she giddily said to me.

I frowned as my body got shook back and forth before tugging my hand away, "what the hell has you so excited all of a sudden?"

"There's another statue!" Liza blurted.

I rolled my eyes, "of course there's a lot of statues, we've already established that."

Liza looked at me in exasperation, "not at the garden goofy! I mean at the museum!"

Realization dawned on me as I understood what she meant. Axil, who stood next to us tensed slightly and turned to watch Liza intently.

"Who was it? That you saw at your museum?" he asked anxiously.

Liza contemplated, "The statue is standing outside of the museum, at the entrance. It's a human male. He was standing with his fists clenched at his sides as he glared at whoever was in front of him."

"Take me there."

"Whoa whoa whoa," both Liza and I exclaimed as Axil turned to leave the room, stopping him in his tracks.

His words echoed in my ears and wormed themselves around my heart as I felt myself softening. How could he blindly trust us like this? Was he that stupid?

I nodded my head at him and turned away.

"We have to find out what's going on with this town." I acknowledged.

Liza nodded in understanding, "you're right. I don't feel right about how things are right now, especially since we live here."

I frowned, "I did a background check on the town before we moved here. The history I found on the internet dated back to the year 1830 but Axil's pack was turned in 1828. I didn't find anything wrong with it at the time. I just figured that was when the town was established, but it seems the town wasn't necessarily established, it was remodelled. Everything about the history looked perfectly fine... a little too perfect if you ask me."

Liza hummed in thought, "I realized too, it didn't strike me as odd because of how mundane the history was with its boring politics and fight for territory. I can check some of the history books at the school library tomorrow."

I nodded, "that's good. I'm going to cast a spell that detects supernatural activity. See if we could find any leads."

Liza's eyes gleamed as she looked at me, "Can I watch? Can you do something right now? I really wanna see some magic Ezzy! C'mon!"
