I tried to defend myself. Was it that he liked thicker women?

What was I even thinking?

I shook my head to get rid of the thoughts and frowned, "forget it, where's Liza?"

"Did someone ask for me?"

Liza popped through the doorway with a lollipop hanging from the side of her mouth.

I sat up on the couch and ignored the dull ache in my head. It was slowly ebbing away.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I'm supposed to be asking you that. Your eyes flashed a bright purple just before you fainted, you were out for a whole 5 hours."

I pursed my lips, "oh, so that's what happened."

"What happened to you anyway?" Liza came to sit on the couch next to me, curling her legs under her.

I glanced at Axil who just stood there with his arms crossed and shrugged, "I got a vision... or what I assume is a vision..."

Liza's eyes sparkled as she turned to me excitedly, "witches get premonitions!?"

I frowned, "not necessarily, only a select few manage to have premonitions. I've never been one of them before though, so this is the first..." I altered the truth slightly as I avoided facing what I knew happened.

"So, what'd you see?" Axil asked me, staring at me intensely... as if he could see through the lies that I've built up around myself.

I fidgeted anxiously and avoided his gaze, "I saw Kai lying in the forest alone... crying out in pain."

Liza furrowed her brows and took the lollipop out of her mouth, "Kai, the neighbour's kid?"

I nodded, "that's all I could make out. It looked like he was close to the entrance of the cave, and he was alone out there suffering..."

A contemplative look crossed Liza's face, "if it's a vision, then is it the past, present or future?"

I shrugged and leaned back into the couch, "I have no idea, these things aren't always so easy to decipher."

"But why are you seeing Kai of all people anyway?"

"No idea. I've only seen that kid from afar."

"Alright then, you probably got that vision for a reason. I'll go next door and check up on them. It won't be suspicious at all since his older sister is in my class." I watched as Liza got up and placed the lollipop in her mouth, "I'll be back."

"Alright," I muttered, my eyes trained to her until she disappeared from my view.

As soon as she left, I stood up and glanced at Axil awkwardly, "I have to go cast a spell and inquire about the magical situation in this town. Are you alright on your own?"

I clutched the cold stone like structure in my hand and closed my eyes. I felt around for the energy that resided within me and urged it forward, pouring it into the crystal, causing it to emit a faint purple glow.

"Find the object of my unease

Find the hidden magic I cannot see

Travel the miles and pass the trees

Show me what isn't meant to be seen."

My eyes glazed over slightly as a blank canvas appeared before me. I frowned. Needed more power.

I poured more of my energy into the crystal, wincing at the slight pounding as my head began to ache again. It's been a while since I've used this much magic... I'm too rusty.

A slight image began to flicker before my lids, alerting me that there was hidden magic in town. In order to get a clearer image, I repeated the spell once more.

The image flickered again as an outline began to form before my lids. I waited with bated breath as the image got clearer and clearer.

Suddenly, a strange mental energy slammed into me, startling me and causing a yelp to escape my lips. Just as a pair of pure black eyes blinked at me, my eyes snapped open, and my hand clutched my chest as my breathes came out fast and unsteady.

Who the hell was that?
