A bitter laugh escaped my lips at that, "I don't even know if I'm staying Axil. If I stay here, we can't deny the fact that my existence is a threat to your pack. The council can find me at any moment and when they do and I'm still here, they won't just settle for my death. Everyone would have to die."

"I'm willing to take that risk and I'm sure everyone else in the pack would feel the same way. You saved our life. If it wasn't for you, we'd have eventually perished beneath that stone. You're a part of our pack now whether you like it or not."

I shook my head and buried myself even deeper into his chest, if possible, "I can't put you guys in danger Axil. I've already unknowingly hung a death sign over Liza and our parents' heads, I don't want to hang anymore. I'm afraid. I'm afraid to live. I'm afraid to let people in again because I'd never know when they'd leave. My existence is a curse."

"Look at me," he whispered.

I shook my head and refused.

"Look. At. Me."

My body shuddered as his voice cascaded over me and I reluctantly raised my tear-streaked face to look up at him.

He smiled as his hand came up to cup my cheek, "I've been cursed for many years, but you're the first curse that I've ever willingly accepted. If you're afraid just hold onto me, we can face our fears together."

A laugh escaped my lips as he wiped away a tear that slid down my cheek, "that's such a cheesy thing to say."

A wolfish grin tugged at his lips as he tilted his head, "did it work? Do you want to stay with me now?"

A smile blossomed on my face as my insides flipped and went into chaos, "idiot. who'd want to stay with you?"

He shrugged his shoulders with a contemplative look on his face, "Liza seems to think that I'm very good to look at. I wonder if she_"

"Finish that sentence and I'll drown you myself," I warned him with narrowed eyes.

He chuckled and bent his head down to place his forehead on my own, staring into my glossy eyes, "you really are beautiful."

My face heated up at the compliment, but I rolled my eyes, "flattery gets you nowhere."

His lips curled upwards, "I couldn't use it at first because I was still recovering from breaking out of the stone but now that I'm fully healed..."

He raised a hand over the water before us and I watched with widened eyes as the water rose to form a wall before us.

"This is..." I breathed in awe.

"Manipulation. I can manipulate the elements that are around me," Axil answered.

"That's amazing," I replied, my voice dripping with sincerity. Although something like this shouldn't really be of much interest to me since I could do something similar, I still found it shocking as I've never heard that an ability like this could fester within a werewolf.

"See? I'm not as weak as you make me out to be. I can help you and I want to help you because I like you and I'm really interested in getting to know more about you." He placed his hand down as he guided the water back into place.

I swung my head back and laughed. I laughed and laughed until tears sprang from my eyes again. My laughter soon turned into sniffles as I silently cried. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest as his words cascaded over me.
