"Listen princess, things are about to get dangerous from now on. You'll have to be on your own for a while, but I promise either me or your parents will come and find you to explain everything. For now, we'll be sending you down to earth to live. In this bag, there's all you need to survive on your own for a while. Your soul crystal, a spell book, a few snacks, water, and a credit card. You'll understand what the card is for once you make it to earth. Make sure to keep these things close to you and don't under any circumstances let anyone take them from you, do you hear me!?" he shook my shoulders firmly.
I clutched the bag to my chest and nodded hurriedly, causing him to sigh wearily.
"Good, now close your eyes," he muttered.
I did as he said and closed my eyes, feeling as he placed his fingers against my forehead and began to mutter.
"Trees of life
Hear this one's cry
Take this child
Beyond the sky
To the world above
I draw my blood
Open the gates
To let through this flourishing bud."
The world around me became dark as I blacked out.
When I had opened my eyes again, I was under a tree, deep into some woods on earth. I remembered almost dying multiple times as I continuously ran into dangerous predators.
It was only thanks to him that I made it out alive.
My adopted father.
My body shivered in disgust.
I blinked away the memories and looked across at the human male that slept soundly in the bed beside me, lightly snoring.
I sighed and ran a hand down my face, my weary eyes looking at the digital clock on the tv stand that read 4am in the morning.
Another sleepless night filled with nothing but terrible nightmares.
I got up out of bed and started throwing on my clothes. Once dressed, I took up my purse, phone and heels and walked barefoot out the door and down the stairs of the hotel. Once I was out of the hotel, I sighed and gazed up into the sky blankly.
"I wonder how their lives turned out..." I found myself muttering as I thought of the three sisters that I had always held close to my heart.
He sighed and waved his friend away, "I don't know anything so stop asking."
They then greeted the receptionist and went about their business. By the end of the day, the strange girl had long since disappeared from Julian's mind.
I spent the rest two days in the hospital doing absolutely nothing. Since I was 'recuperating', I decided to use it to my advantage to laze around and read stories all day without any interruptions. I knew that after I got out of the hospital, things wouldn't be the same again, and I'd probably have to get insanely busy from now on. This meant less time for me, which meant less time to read, which means less time to do absolutely nothing.
I mentally sighed.
It sounded like torture.
Liza visited my room often but left after being ignored by me every single time. From what I heard, little Bea and her had become the best of friends. I was never good with kids, so I haven't managed to get close with the little rug rat yet. Liza said it was mostly because I ignored kids instead of giving them the attention they needed, but I don't see what's so wrong about that.
It ain't my kid; my attention was needed elsewhere.
Axil had also stopped by once before disappearing again with the promise of picking me up after I was discharged from the hospital.
There were tons of work to do as he tried to manage everything, starting from the humans who lived within the town, the old members, the new members, and the recently freed members. All the stone people were finally freed.
I heard that a lot of them were able to survive while a few unlucky ones had long since ran out of life essence and had died beneath the stone, Bea's mother being one of them.
