We arrived to the Hilton hotel that Hosted the banquet and we all got out. Alysia checked us all in and we walked into the banquet hall. It was a huge ball room with gold colors everywhere. The ceiling was made of glass and the floor had some type of beautiful gold design. The tables around the dance floor were gold and white. Everything looked antique and yet new at the same time.
There were maybe 30 people already at the banquet. That wasn't a lot compared to the 150 people supposed to be arriving soon. I didn't know the purpose of the banquet, all I knew was that there were a bunch of extremely rich people that would probably look down on me.
As soon as we walked in, Alysia headed to the kitchen to see if Trevor needed anything. I think the real reason was to show Trevor how good she looked. I would want to flaunt that body too if I had it. Now I wanted to hide mine since I felt like a huge.....
"You want to go sit down?" Marco asked me, pulling me out of my thoughts. I nodded and he escorted me to a random table. I sat down and Marco left to go get drinks.
I leaned back in my chair, relaxing my body for a few seconds. I honestly didn't want to make this night any more stressful than it had to be. All I had to do was smile, agree with whatever the people were saying and not make a fool of myself. That didn't seem so hard. But then again, it sounded easier said than done.
Marco came back over with a glass of water for me and what looked like champagne for himself.
"How do you want to mingle?" I asked Marco. We were both on "Team don't wanna be here".
"Let's wait till Alysia comes back, so we can show that we're actually trying here." He replied. I agreed and drank some of my water. I had this really nervous feeling in my gut that tonight would be a complete and total disaster but I didn't know why.
"Here she comes." Marco said.
"Why aren't you guys mingling?" Alysia asked.
Both Marco and I sighed and got up from the table. Alysia knew at least two people here so she introduced us to them first.
"Marco. Arianna. This is Tiffany and Christian Lucas." Alysia announced, gesturing to a young couple. The woman was about 5'8, with heels and had long dark brown hair and Carmel skin. She wore a navy blue cocktail dress and black heels. She had a sort of natural model sense to her. The guy was somewhat taller maybe 5'9. He had a black tux and black shoes but his hazel eyes and long blond hair is what gave him his attractiveness.
Both Marco and I shook Tiffany and Christian's hands. The conversation starter began on fashion. Of course Marco and I were introduced as a couple so his fashion sense just attributed to his passion of being on top of his game and looking good. I zoned out of the conversation and looked around the room. Everyone had someone to speak to and it looked as though there was at least one person, like I, that wasn't paying any attention to the conversation happening around them.
"Are you sure about that. Because I don't think there's any other woman in the world who looks as beautiful as you in that dress." He said, practically purring his words.
"Thanks but no thanks."
"Oh come on. It can just be a one night stand, I have a room upstairs, we can sneak out." He said stepping closer.
"I don't want a one night stand with an alcoholic. It's only 7 pm and you're already drunk. Who does that!?" I said, snorting and walking back to where Marco was.
There were 3 more people involved in the group conversation now. The 3 people were introduced to me but I didn't really pay attention to their names or their conversation. I took a quick sweep of the room again and saw more and more people beginning to come in and converse with their social circles.
I noticed the age and height differences in couples and whom was flirting with whom. I also noticed the many couples whom didn't even look at each other once during their conversation with other people. They completely ignored their husband or wife.
