Instead of allowing myself to think any longer, I managed to get my body working again and walked over to Arianna and that Marcus guy. She was sipping on a glass of water while the Marcus guy was asking questions.
"Do you want to go home? I can get the car." Marco asked.
"I'm fine." Arianna said her voice was barely above a whisper.
"Hello Arianna." I said as I walked over to where she sat. She looked up at me and blinked really hard. I guess she was hoping this was some sort of bad nightmare but it most definitely was not. I was here. And no matter how many times she said she wants me to leave, I'm staying this time.
"I'm sorry who are you?" Marco asked, sounding a little defensive.
"My name is..."
"Nicolas. Marco this is an old friend of mine." Arianna said, cutting me off. Marco just looked at me, sizing me up. I didn't know how much she told Marco about me but I wasn't in the mood for fighting.
"Can we talk?" I asked, ignoring Marco's hard glares at me.
"Yeah. Have a seat." Arianna offered. "Marco can you go get me a cup of ice please and some crackers." Marco nodded and did as she asked. And then Arianna and I just stared at each other.
"How have you been?" I asked, starting up the conversation.
"Alright. You?" she answered.
"Fine. How many months?"
"What?" She asked looking confused.
"The baby."
"Oh um....I'm 6 months."
"Wow. Congratulations."
"Yeah. Thanks."
"So Marcus is the father?"
"Marco is not the father."
"So...who is it?"
"It's been 7 months?"
"Yes."
"The baby isn't mine?"
"Goodbye Nicolas." Arianna said as she got up from the table and left the banquet room. I was still shocked that the baby wasn't mine. I mean a part of me was happy but the other part of me was hoping that the baby was mine. I could have been a great father. I would have provided for Arianna and the baby. But like I said before, I wasn't going to give up on her. My baby or not, Arianna and I would be back together.
NICOLAS'S POV
Marco left after Arianna did and I chose to leave as well. On the drive back to my apartment, I thought of all the ways I could get Arianna back. It was time to use my creep status in order to get her back. I didn't feel like I could do much that night so I crashed on the couch.
I dreamed of Arianna and a young girl, around 6, playing in the park. The little girl had long light brown curls and big brown eyes that made your heart melt. She was extremely cute for a kid. Both mother and daughter had on matching pink dresses. I couldn't take my eyes off how beautiful they both were. I was sitting on a bench, watching them. They were playing tag until the young girl caught Arianna and tagged her. They both came over to me smiling and laughing. Arianna sat next to me and leaned into me as I wrapped an arm around her. Her smile was bright and she looked really happy. I didn't want to say anything because I felt that she might get upset or lose her happiness. I sometimes tend to do that to her. The young girl jumped on my lap screaming "Daddy". And then I woke up.
I grabbed my Iphone off the table and clicked the button to see what time it was. It was 5:10 in the morning. "What the hell?" I said out loud not really to anyone in particular. The dream only fueled my desire to get Arianna back.
I searched through the 'Arianna' file to find anything that might help. I kept flipping and a picture fell out. It was of a young African American woman. I read about her connection to Arianna. Her name was Alysia and they've been best friends since the eighth grade. I didn't find her address but I found where she worked and I quickly ripped the papers out of the file.
I ran down all the flights of stairs to the garage and got into my car. Hopefully Alysia would still be there. Thankfully I had a "just in case" bag that had some deodorant and a pair of clothes in case I needed it. It took a whole hour to get to the restaurant and when I arrived, the restaurant was closed. I read the opening and closing times on the door and it didn't open until 9. What the hell am I supposed to do until 9!?
