After that, it seemed as though Nicolas snapped out of his daydream. He walked over to me in a few long strides, held my face and kissed me. I mean he actually kissed me. At first I was shocked but then I quickly kissed him back. His kiss was rough and desperate, like he was looking for something. I closed my eyes and just allowed myself to enjoy the kiss. I honestly didn't want to move because I thought it might make him realize that this was a bad choice. And as quickly as it started, it ended. Nicolas pulled away from me and walked back to the door. He helped it open for me and I walked out.
That was one hell of a goodbye. I thought to myself.
"Last call for flight 279 to New York City." The flight attendant called on the intercom.
I grabbed my purse and headed to the terminal. I gave the lady my ticket and headed onto the plane. I quickly found my seat and plopped down in it, exhausted. For the past few days, after the goodbye kiss with Nicolas, I hadn't been able to think straight. Everywhere I turned was a constant reminder from Tabloid magazine (whom by the way still haven't been able to figure out who I am), to my ex boyfriend leaving hysterical voice mails asking where I've been. I didn't understand why it should matter tot him since imp a grown woman and has my EX!
Every time I tried to get a nap in, my simple dreams would turn into erotic ones with Nicolas and I doing things that vie never even knew I could do. I close my eyes for a few seconds and he's always there. It was becoming more like a curse than anything else.
Today was the only day that I could actually work up the courage to go back home. I couldn't wait to get back to my cozy apartment in Manhattan. I missed the crowded streets and loud noises. I missed not being able to think thanks to the loud noises outside my windows. I even missed Roberto's pizzeria on 7th and Smith. Roberto made the absolute best pizza in all of New York. That was definitely going to be my first stop before heading home.
I realized that I would probably have to tell someone about my few nights in Vegas. So before the texting light went off on the plane, I texted my best friends Marco and Alysia and told them to meet me at my apartment in a few hours. I locked my phone a closed my eyes, leaning my head back onto the headrest.
"Long weekend?" An elderly lady sitting next to me asked.
"You have no idea," I answered.
He gave me one of his heart warming smiles and I remembered why I feel in love with him. These past few months, he's been my rock. He was there with me during everything. I felt extremely blessed that he was here taking care of us. I needed someone to hold my hand and reassure me after everything that was to come.
Kyle got up and walked over to me. He pulled me to him as he leaned on the arm rest of the couch and kissed me. Kyle was always so gentle with me. At first I thought it was because I was in such a fragile state but I later learned that it was just because he was a caring and gentle person. He was always ready to put everyone else before himself. That was one of the reasons I loved him so much.
Unlike Nicolas, Kyle lived a completely normal life. He was an accountant at a local bank. He had a one bedroom apartment on the other side of Manhattan. He volunteered at soup kitchens and local shelters. He was always giving more than he needed to only because he cared that much. I felt lucky to have him but sometimes I felt like I didn't deserve him. We met through mutual friends after I came back from Vegas. And hes been there ever since, mending my broken hurt especially after...
"Ehmm!" Marco cleared his throat and interrupted our make out session. Kyle pulled away from me and gave Marco the evil eye. Marco just ignored Kyle. "Look wouldn't this be perfect for Zoey." Marco said holding up a navy blue jumper that had "Little Angel" written on the front.
