"It would be cute for Chris." I answered back touching my stomach protectively.
Kyle put his hand over my hand, which was resting on my belly. "It would be perfect for whomever."
Unlike Marco and I, Kyle didn't care what sex the baby was. He accepted us as we were. And I would always love him for that. I just looked into Kyle's eyes, with unshed tears in mine, and kissed the hell out of him.
What did I do to deserve such a man?
I woke up early the next morning. I looked over to the clock on the nightstand and saw it was 5:10 in the morning. I didn't really want to stay in bed and stare at the ceiling thanks to my restless night. I felt tired during the day but when I tried to get some sleep, I couldn't. I assumed it was because I was thinking about too much.
I got up from the bed, trying not to disturb Kyle as he slept, and I walked to the kitchen. I looked through the fridge for bacon and eggs and when I found it, I took it out. I started to cook the bacon and eggs and went back to the fridge for the pancake mix. I started singing while I cooked to keep myself entertained.
"I'm a train wreck in the morning
I'm a b*tch in the afternoon.
Every now and then without warning
I can be really mean towards you."
"Kind of honest lyrics, don't you think?" A deep, husky voice asked from behind me.
"I didn't know I was singing that loud. I didn't mean to wake you up." I said.
"Well you're cooking bacon...it was sort of inevitable." Kyle replied laughing. He walked around me and snatched one of the cooked pieces of bacon, and then he turned around to me with clear concern in his eyes.
"Don't worry. I won't leave you alone. I'll take care of you Ari." Kyle said, holding me as I continued to cry.
That's what I was counting on.
Kyle and I ate breakfast early that morning and Marco had a fit when he woke up and there was barely any food left for him. I left Kyle and Marco in the kitchen yelling at each other over who should make more breakfast. Marco was trying to defend his position that Kyle should make breakfast since he ate everything and helped put away all the baby stuff while Kyle and I slept. I walked back into the bedroom and grabbed my towel and headed into the bathroom. I turned the water on to luke warm and took off my clothes and got in. I imagined the water washing all my pain and constant reminders of the past down the drain. As I scrubbed my skin and watched the water go down the drown, I focused on letting go of things and relaxing and for the first time in months, my body relaxed and I did as well. I guess that crying session let me release more than I thought.
I turned off the water and got out the shower. I wrapped the towel around my waist and headed back to the bedroom. Kyle was in the room and he had food all over his shirt. I didn't know why he and Marco were forever going at it. I looked at Kyle with his helpless childish eyes and busted out laughing. Kyle looked even sadder than before and I laughed a little more as I walked towards our closet and started picking out clothes for today.
"Oh you think this is funny?" Kyle asked as he snuck up behind me and started tickling me. I didn't hear him sneak up behind me, sometimes Kyle reminded me of a ninja with the way he was so skilled at being quiet and sneaky with stuff. It freaked me out a little.
I couldn't help laughing. How could I when I'm extremely ticklish. I turned around and playfully hit Kyle to get him to stop since I couldn't really talk nor breathe. Kyle stopped and held me close. Through our laughs, we both became really serious and Kyle kissed me. For the first time in months, I was actually happy. I mean after the breakup with my ex boyfriend before Nicolas, and then Nicolas. I never actually had time to take a second and breathe. Kyle changed that. He gave me space and allowed me to breathe as much as I wanted. I always wanted to show him how much I loved him through little things like dinner dates or surprises, but I always felt like they were never good enough.
