"Are you alright love?" Liza asked her tenderly, walking over to her and kneeling to her height.

The little girl's eyes swelled with tears, "I want mama."

"Where's mama? I'll help you find her; I promise."

The girl sniffed and extended her hand to show us the piece of stone and mumbled, broken, "mama."

"Jesus Christ," I muttered under my breath. We could already guess that her mother didn't make it out of the rubble.

Liza turned back to look at me, her eyes questioning me on the impossible. I exclaimed in exasperation, "I'm a witch not a God!"

She sighed helplessly then turned back to rub the little girl's cheek, "Where's your papa?"

"Papa? Papa working." she cried.

"Where's he working? Is he here?"

The little girl nodded.

"Why'd you run away?"

"I don't... I don't nobody," she sniffled.

"You don't know anyone?"

She shook her head.

Liza smiled at her then gestured towards me sitting awkwardly on the bed, "Well that's Ezzy and I'm Lizzy, okay? Now you know us so what's your name?"

The girl glanced at me warily and I forced a smile, hoping to God it looked comforting and natural. I waved at her and said, "hi sweetheart."

She blinked at me and tilted her head slightly, as if sensing something before turning to Liza and replying.

"Bea."

Liza grinned at that, "Hi Bea! Do you mind if I pick you up? I'll get you back to daddy alright? We'll show him that you're fine then maybe we can go and get something sweet to eat and get to know each other better! Is that fine with you?"

Bea nodded shyly and allowed Liza to lift her into her arms. Liza turned back to me and said, "I'll be back to check up on you later. Don't leave the room until the doctor comes back."

I nodded and waved a dismissive hand, "go do your thing."

Bea waved goodbye at me as they left the room.

Once the door shut, I laid back in bed with a big sigh, running a hand over my face. My life surely was chaotic. One event after another then another, honestly, I wanted to go back to my lazing around days. I miss those.

This hospital bed wasn't even comfortable!

I groaned in frustration and sat back up, swinging my legs to the side, and stepping off of the bed.

As usual, Liza's words went through one ear and out the next and I found myself opening my hospital door to leave.

I mentally screamed at the adorable sight.

"Bea no dog," she patted her chest proudly, "Bea wolf!"

An infatuated smile tugged at my lips, and I tapped her nose in adoration, "Of course you are. I'm sorry."

"Hmph," she huffed, crossing her arms, and turning her head away.

As soon as we stepped out of the elevator, we ran into a tall skinny man in scrubs. This man was tall, about 6 foot 3 with light brown eyes that were covered with a pair of dorky glasses. His black hair travelled a bit pass his ears and was shadowing most of his face, barely allowing me to fully appreciate his handsome features.

Relief flooded the doctor's features as his eyes snapped towards Bea.

"Papa!" Bea stretched out her hands without hesitation, allowing her father to pull her into his arms.

"Shit Bea, where'd you run off to? I was looking for you!" He exclaimed towards his daughter, his eyes anxiously scanning every inch of her face to make sure she was alright.

Bea beamed at him, "Bea have friends, look! This Lizzy!"

I waved as the doctor's gaze snapped towards mine in surprise, finally focusing on my presence.

"Heya, I found the little one running around upstairs."

The doctor cleared his throat and adjusted his glasses, "Thank you for keeping her company. My name's Dawson and I'm the pack healer here."
