I furrowed my brows in confusion, "pack healer?"

"Oh right. People call us doctors now a days," he muttered to himself as if trying to memorize that fact.

Oooh, this was a wolf thing. In other words, doesn't need to know.

I nodded my head in understanding and greeted him, "Nice to meet you Dawson, I'm Liza. It seems like you're busy though so if you don't mind, I can watch Bea for a few hours. She's a really cute friend," I winked at her.

Bea nodded and glanced at her father shyly, "Please papa? Bea like Lizzy."

Dawson furrowed his brows and eyed me warily, "are you sure it's not too much trouble for you? I can ask one of the pack elders to look over her."

I waved my hand dismissively and reached out to take her, pleased when she readily accepted my embrace, "I don't mind. I love kids, and if you're worried about me being a stranger, just know that I'm a close friend of your Alpha, Axil. We're going to go get ice cream then hang out in room 103 on the third floor. I have a friend who's staying in the hospital."

His eyes flashed in surprise at the mention of Axil's name, "you're the human friend who helped free us?" He asked.

I smiled proudly, despite not being of help much and agreed, "of course! The one and only."

His shoulders seemed to relax at that, and he nodded in acknowledgement, "I'll come back to get her in about four hours. If anything happens just ask the lady at the front desk for Healer Dawson."

"Sure sure," I waved him away, quickly scurrying away with Bea in my arms.

Who knew that chance encounter would turn out to be one of the luckiest days of my life?

Ezmira's POV

I closed the door tightly shut behind me, glancing down the hallway that had a few people in scrubs and patient uniforms walking around. I ignored those people and wandered about the building, using the stairs to go down to the first floor. I didn't really have a goal in mind, I just wanted to walk and clear my mind, thinking about the image of my sister reaching out to me.

Should I try to contact her?

Was she in trouble?

Was she found?

So many questions swirled in my mind but the one that stood out the most was the one I really wasn't sure I wanted the answer to.

He nodded, "Yes, I'm Abel. I heard about you from Axil."

"Oh," I trailed off awkwardly.

I stood still like a lamppost as his gaze travelled across my face as if looking for something, "are you alright? I heard that you exhausted yourself terribly in order to help us and I can't express how thankful I am for what you did."

Gratefulness filled his eyes as he thanked me, and me, being the awkward mother trucker I am, simply replied with a "you're welcome," then fell silent.

He cleared his throat, "Are you looking for Axil? I can lead you to him if y-"

I frowned as his sentence was cut short. I watched as his eyes became glazed and unfocused as if he were in a trance and tentatively put out a hand to shake his shoulders.

"Abel? You okay?"

He seemed to have snapped out of whatever trance he was in as his eyes focused back onto me with a grimace, "good timing. They found something in the mayor's office. If you want to see Axil, I can lead you there."

I nodded and followed him out of curiosity, wondering if they managed to capture their uncle. We left the hospital and got into Abel's car as he drove us quickly to the hospital. At first, I was surprised at the fact that he knew how to drive but then realized that it was possible since he was not one of the people trapped under stone for all these years.
