I rolled my eyes at him as my face heated up even more. I turned to Abel and asked, "What happened?"
Abel frowned as he thought back to the events that had just occurred, "that's the thing. I'm not really sure."
"What do you mean by that?"
"It was our uncle."
Confusion blanketed my face, "your uncle? What was your uncle?"
"The witch was our uncle."
"That's impossible," I immediately shut down the idea.
"It was. We all saw his face with our very own eyes. We were waiting inside the room, like instructed and when the wall began to split to reveal the hidden room, our uncle was the one who came from inside. We were so stunned; we couldn't do anything until it was too late. He muttered a spell and left. Before he left though, he said that he'd be back for his findings."
"His findings? What on earth is that?"
"We don't know."
"Wait wait wait," I placed a hand up to stop him even though he had already stopped talking. I tried to process this information, "your uncle is a werewolf, is he not?"
"Yes, he is," Axil answered.
"But he has the same heat signatures of a witch and can also cast spells is what I'm hearing?" I further questioned.
"It seems that way," Abel frowned.
My eyes brightened as my thoughts began to circulate and connect the puzzle pieces that had me distressed for a good while now. I looked up at Axil and said excitedly, "it's dark magic!"
Axil frowned in confusion, "what is?"
Abel took out a set of keys and opened the metal door that stood at the end of the hallway. Stairs greeted my vision as we began descending the dark room.
"Is this really a police station? You guys have a basement."
Abel chuckled, "this room has been here since the establishment of this town. It was first a place where we kept criminals back in the days before we expanded the building and made regular jail cells. It rarely had a use for us until now."
I hummed in acknowledgement as we touched the flat surface of the basement. Abel turned to his left and flipped a switch on the wall, turning on the lights. I blinked my eyes to adjust to the light as I looked around at all the thick metal doors that scattered down the hallway. There wasn't a single sound that could be heard, and the air smelt dusty and stale, as if the main purpose of this whole area was to collect dust. There was moss covering the cemented walls and spider webs everywhere, giving me the vibes of one of those old-time prison chambers.
I followed the brothers as they led us forward and turned left down another hallway. At the end of this hallway, there was a man standing guard outside a metal door.
I could hear the scurrying of our feet as we approached him. He simply turned around without saying a word, opened the door that creaked loudly as it was pushed and then stepped aside for us to pass through.
I followed behind the brothers and entered the room, my eyes immediately straying towards a dirty and haggard looking Tiana as she laid there on the floor motionless, her hands connected to chains that were plastered against the wall. Blood was trailing down the side of her head as if she was continuously struck there.
