I watched as her body fell onto the ground with her arms hung above her head by the chains. Her eyes stared at me in terror as her body continuously shivered.

"You..."

So, the council was looking for me? Only me? If that were the case, they probably knew nothing about my sisters' existences. Otherwise, why else would she just state that they were looking for me? I needed to find out more about this and possibly warn the others.

"The council is looking for me?" I asked her.

"Sweetie, you're like a ticking time bomb in the council's eyes. You should be happy they're not raising hell on earth to find you," Tiana grumbled weakly.

"Just me?" I further probed.

She shot me a sarcastic glare, "You are Elena are you not? I doubt any other survivors are as important as the heir to the fucking circus show."

My heart stuttered in surprise as the familiar name met my ears. They didn't know about me? No... they didn't know about any of us besides Elena. Was this mother's doing? Did she make them believe that she only had one daughter? Why?

I turned my head away from her and met Axil's curious eyes. He's been quiet this entire time, but I could practically see the questions rolling off his gaze.

A defeated sigh escaped my lips as I shook my head at him and said, "later."

He nodded in understanding and asked seriously, "So our uncle was possessed by her husband?"

My lips tilted down as I nodded.

"If he's only possessed then he should still be a werewolf, shouldn't he?" Abel asked.

I grimaced, "not necessarily. This is why this method was frowned upon by the higher ups. The longer you stay in that person's body, the more that person's genetics begin to alter to mirror your own. A few witches used it to swap bodies once their own body began deteriorating from old age."

Axil asked in surprise, "that's possible!?"

I nodded gravely. It really was possible. Since werewolves were created from a curse by a God and witches were gifted beings favored by the Gods, it was possible to erase a werewolf's cursed genetics by simply inhabiting their body for a certain amount of years.

I took a step forward but stumbled as my legs finally gave out due to exhaustion. Axil immediately came to pick me up in his arms and I wrapped my arms around his neck to stable myself. I just had to go and show her how weak I was. Great.

Axil looked down at me with worried eyes, "I'll take you back to the hospital. Abel will handle the rest here."

"Bu-"

"Enough M! You're not allowed to leave or discuss anything else until you're fully healed."

I held in my words at that and descended into silence as he carried me outside of the room, not even sparing Tiana a glance as we left. However, her words as we left the door circulated in my mind on repeat.

"So, you're mates huh," she laughed bitterly, "that fact alone would have the council razing this place to the ground."

My heart trembled slightly as I buried my head in Axil's chest.

We waited outside of the station for a while before Abel came through the doors, blood splattered across his shirt.
