"Is it done?" Axil asked.
Abel grunted in agreement and hurriedly hopped into the car with us trailing behind him.
Axil took me back to the hospital and went straight towards the room I was staying in. Liza was already inside pacing up and down anxiously.
"Where on earth did you go and what happened!?" Was her immediate response as she came up to my side when Axil placed me down on the bed.
I waved a dismissive hand and laid down, closing my eyes as my body succumbed to the exhaustion and pain, "I'm fine."
A sharp pinch at my side caused me to yelp in pain as my eyes snapped open and I turned to glare at Liza furiously, "OW!! What the hell!?"
"Exactly! What the hell!? You look worst than when I left you here! I searched the entire building for you, and you were nowhere to be seen! If I don't get an answer, so help me God, I will tie you to that bed and dissect your brain myself so I can see what the fuck goes on inside it!" she argued furiously, a hand propped on her hips.
I grimaced at that and grumbled, "I'm too exhausted for this, Liza."
She huffed in annoyance, "fine then. If you're not gonna tell me, Axil will."
Axil chuckled in response and turned to me, "there's a doctor on the way to make sure that you're really fine. I have something else to take care of, but you're not allowed to leave this room until you're fully rested. I'll have someone guard the door just to be safe," he warned as Liza began to impatiently pull him out the door for information.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," I muttered as the door slammed shut, blanketing my room in silence.
I sighed and massaged my forehead as I felt the incoming headache.
A few minutes later, a doctor came into the room and checked my temperature and everything, confirming that I wasn't physically ill or hurt. I just needed a long rest to replenish my energy.
After he left, I laid there as my thoughts spiraled out of control and I began to think about all the information I've gathered so far.
I never expected that I'd be opening up the gates to my past so quickly. Actually, I had hoped that I could keep those gates closed forever but it seems that was just my wishful thinking.
I also wasn't comfortable with the thought of putting everyone in this town at risk by living here because as Tiana said, the council would probably stop at nothing to get to me. If I stayed here, I might attract danger and the people have been through enough already. Maybe I should leave...
An image of Axil flashed in my mind as I thought about leaving and my heart trembled slightly as I hesitated in my decision.
I had no idea what I was going to do from now on but one thing that I was sure of was that I needed to tell Axil the truth about my origins. Not because I didn't want him to doubt me but simply because I felt like it was the right thing to do since he'd already opened himself up to both Liza and I.
It'd be heartless if I didn't do the same.
A sigh escaped my lips as I curled myself up in the sheets and relaxed into the pillows, willing my thoughts to stand still as I closed my eyes.
Gradually, after laying silent for a few minutes, I managed to fall asleep.
Within this endless darkness, my ears picked up the sound of a plea and I strained myself to listen as the voice became louder.
"Ru..."
"Stop..."
"Run..."
"Stop running!"
The voice became so loud that it began ringing in my ears and I tried to move my arms to cover them but felt that I couldn't move at all.
A scream tore from my lips as my ears trembled at the pressure the sound caused.
A gasp escaped my lips as my eyes snapped open in fright, my hand immediately going to clutch at my chest as my heart raced.
I blinked my eyes against the bright lights that streamed through the hospital window then sighed, rubbing my tired eyes.
My ears tingled slightly, and I reached a hand up to wipe at the blood that was dripping from my left ear. I rubbed the blood between my fingers with a frown on my face, contemplating.
